Book Baton

July 22, 2005

Some of you may have already noticed that another baton is going round these days. This time it is all about books. I’ve been passed one by Sebastian Schmieg from Kingcosmonaut. So here we go….

Number of books on the shelf

Sitting in the living room I can count about 50 books, whereas about half of them belong to my girlfriend. However I am sure that there are also some books lying ’round somewhere in my office.

Last book purchased

That’s an easy one. “DHTML Utopia: Modern Web Design using JavaScript & DOM” by Stuart Langridge. I haven’t finished the book yet — but as far as I can tell from the chapters I’ve already read, it’s excellent. If you are interested in this book, take a look at the respective site on SitePoint.

Book reading right now

Well as mentioned before, I’m currently exploring the depths of event listeners and remote scripting :)

Last 5 books read

  • DHTML Utopia by Stuart Langridge
  •
  • Besser PHP by Carsten Möhrke
  •
  • Einstieg in PHP by Thomas Theis
  •
  • XSLT Cookbook by Sal Mangano
  •
  • Los Logos by Robert Klanten, Michael Mischler and N. Bourquin

"XSLT Cookbook" – is this, I mean XSLT in general, worth reading? I’m asking because I also have got one book about XSLT sitting pn my shelf and I’m undecided wether I should start reading or not.

Sebastian Schmieg

Definitely. Now that all modern browser support client side XSLT transformations, this will be the next big thing. At least from my point of view. -----
