Connect360

February 12, 2006

About a month ago I bought a brand new XBox 360. And I must confess I really love it. The only downside is the lack of connectivity if you wanna use it together with a Mac. Fortunately there are tools like Conncect360 that are bridging the gap.

Connect360 from Nullriver Software is a small $10 shareware that automatically indexes your iTunes and iPhoto libraries and shares them to your Xbox 360. You can then use the Xbox 360 Dashboard to browse and play your media, organized in the exact same way that it is on your Mac.

Connect360 User Interface

Connect360 works with both the Xbox 360 built in network port (wired) and the Xbox 360 WiFi adapter. The built in Access Control List (ACL) feature allows you to easily limit what Xbox 360s can connect to your Mac. Great piece of software — give it a try.

Why did you buy the XBox? I don’t like computer games very much, but I think the hardware is really cool — I think, I will buy a Playstation 3 as soon as I’m sure Linux runs on it (or some other Cell-powered computer wich is cheaper)

I’ll be forwarding this to a number of people that I want to switch to the Mac.

Awesome, thanks so much for pointing this out!

A perfect app just like PSPWare! too bad i don’t have a 360 :(

Pat

All this application needs is the ability to stream video and were rolling. There is also a way to do this Link via the terminal

mmh, great tool, so it’s a nice way for a total entertainment “box”, in a few years we don’t need to leave our sofa to surf, design, play, chat ;)

I’m getting closer and closer to buy myself an Xbox. Posts like this is not good for economy ;)

Teddy

Yes, this tool is quite useful. However it would be even better if it were possible to stream movies.

I have a Mac Mini and an XBOX 360 and it works perfectly with my iTunes and iPhoto library. I just need video, watching all my vidcasts on my TV would just be heaven. Having movies on my Mac streaming to my surround sound. Hopefully, that’s the next update coming up. +cfitz

Cool little app. And a great way to while away the hours until a decent game gets released… ;-)

How, thats nice. Can the XBOX360 play iTunes wireless? Like an Airport Express kind of thing?

Andy

Very cool. I thought the xbox360 was also supposed to hook up to and play nice with an “ipod”. Have you tried that out yet?

Bob

Sorry. I don’t think I understood what you meant by automatic link conversion.

Bobby

I came across this sweet application about a month ago and it’s indeed sweet! I can view my video, photos and music by on my 42” TV.

Cool thanks for sharing.

Andy: Nah, you can’t work the 360 in an AirTunes kind of dealy. Bob: 360 hooks up just fine with iPod. -----
