Dashball - Now Available
Good things come to those who wait. I’m proud to announce that the highly anticipated iPhone game “Dashball” finally made it to the App Store. Grab your copy and be one of the first to enjoy the smashing breakout puzzle fun.
To start with I’d like to thank you for all your feedback and suggestions on Dashball and the recently released Dashball wallpaper set. Also kudos to the many beta testers who did an amazing job. And last but not least thanks to my wife and friends for their patience and support over the last couple of months :)
The Game
So what is the game about? Well personally I’d define it as action puzzle game where the goal is to destroy all the colored blocks by controlling a bouncing ball. Each of the 25 levels contains three kinds of blocks:
- blocks that can be destroyed
- blocks that can be moved
- and blocks that change the color of the ball.
There is also a fourth kind of block that you will learn to dread: the red skull block. Avoid this one at all costs! Since you can only smash or move blocks of the same color as the ball, you have to choose wisely in which order you smash, move and change colors.

You’re in control
Dashball is designed for casual gaming and therefore is easy to control. Just tap the screen on the left or right side to move the ball one step left or right. Tap+hold to move the ball continuously. And for even more challenging game play we’ve also implemented accelerometer support: Just tilt your iPhone left or right to move the ball in the desired direction.
Let’s rock
What’s the point of owning an iPod if you can’t listen to music? Well, Dashball certainly won’t stop you. Just start the music track before you launch the game. Nice huh? But enough talking, let’s get the ball rolling…
Update
Dashball 1.1 is now available. Besides several bug fixes we significantly improved the accelerometer controls. Make sure you grab the new version!

Also ich habs getestet und muss sagen – Das Design ist perfekt und sieht echt hübsch aus.
Trotzdem gibts aber einige Kritikpunkte, die mir den Spielspaß bisher ziemlich vermiest haben:
– Schwierigkeitsgrad steigt zu schnell. Schon der erste Level ist ganz schön gepfeffert. Aber ab dem 3ten hat man schon richtig zu knacken. – Die Steuerung ist ziemlich fehleranfällig. Das Tap-Steuern nimmt manchmal Taps an, die gar keine waren. Die Accelerometer-Steuerung ist für die difizilen Levels einfach zu ungenau. Schön wärs, wenn man dem Ball mit dem Acceleremeter so richtig Impulse geben könnte und auch irgendeine Chance hätte ihn vor dem Treffen eines Todesblocks abzuhalten. – Das Explosionsgeräusch ist schon ein bissl laut.Wäre cool, wenns da noch ne Version 1.1 gäbe :) Trotzdem super Design – Nettes Spiel

Thanks for your feedback. Yeah playing with the accelerometer can be really hard. Therefore I’d advice you to switch to multi touch control – it’s much easier. Just single tap on the left or the right side of the screen to move the ball one step in the respective direction. Tap+hold to move the ball continuously…

Was für ein Knaller. Das ist ein wirklich gelungenes Spiel, klasse Grafik und toller Sound. Es gab for Jahren mal etwas ähnliches für den Atari. Ich weiss das ist Steinzeit aber es erinnert mich Stark daran, zumidest vom Ablauf. Nicht das ich sagen möchte das es eine Kopie ist auf keinen Fall da liegen Welten zwichen. Wenn ich nur wüsste wie das Speil noch heisst ;). Auf jeden Fall ist dein Game der Hammer. Danksch!

it’s great if you add a new layer above your main torn paper, then CTRL-click on the lighter layer, then CTRL-SHIFT-I and fill the new layer with another colour. Then, to make it look like two separate pices of paper, duplicate the paper texture, move it about a bit, CTRL-SHIFT-I again and delete the bottom bit of the NEW texture.

Habs zwar noch nicht lange testen können aber der erste Eindruck ist echt gut. Design ist wie immer top und der Sound ist auch sehr gut. Werds die Tage noch mal bisschen länger testen. Echt gute Arbeit, weiter so! :-)

Gute Idee die App in einer Lite Version anzubieten. Sonst hätte ich sie mir ehrlich gesagt nicht geholt. Ich teste gern zuerst, wie gut die Umsetzung – vor allem der Bewegungssensoren – ist, bevor ich kaufe.

Sieht super aus und erinnert mich stark an ein Spiel aus C64 / Amiga Zeiten, dass man über eine Zeitschrift bekam – indem man händisch den gesamten Code abtippen musste.
