Fresh Update

Bartelme Design

Some of you may have already noticed the subtle changes to the “Fresh” theme. If you are not sure whether your browser displays the most recent version or not, just empty your cache and hit the return button.

Contrast

What has changed? Well to be honest — not much. Basically I just increased contrast and changed some images. One of the most significant change is the new main background image which now consists of a horizontal instead of a vertical gradient. But that’s not just interesting from a visual point of view: I also could get rid of the semitransparent PNG which was the reason for the annoying, slow scrolling behavior on older computers. Hope you enjoy.

I honestly liked the old one better. Still very nice — I just think the white frost is too overpowering.

Hi Wolfgang, I really love the new gradient, really cool! However, seems to me while increasing contrast on color, you’ve loose it too much on the text, especially on the sidebar. In my humble opinion with paler tones, like in the previous design, text was more readable and consultation was more eyes-pleasant. You should have a space between “Sidenotes” and the “RSS” link — this piece of your website is the on that doesn’t look that good at the moment.

To be honest, I believe I like the “plastic” vibe the new gradients exhibit on the sidebar and navigation. I think they fit well with the overall design. Well done Wolfgang.
