iPod Cover

November 15, 2005

Maybe this is old news — but anyway. Just a quick note for all those of you, who consider to buy a new iPod but worry about its susceptibility to cracking respectively getting scratched: not only the new iPod nano but also the normal iPod series now ships with a protective cover.

The new iPod with its protective coverA couple of days ago my girlfriend’s iPod arrived and I was kinda suprised when I figured out that the package also included a small sleeve intended to protect the surface from scratches. Even though it’s not made of high quality material such as leather or something similar it serves its purpose. By the way if you are interested in more pictures, head over to my Flickr account.

(zB Link )

i hope apple advertizes that the sleeve is leather (if it is) — although on their site it says “case”. if i got a new ipod and it came with leather anything i’d send it back. hopefully it’s just some synthetic material, since i can’t see any possible reason an mp3 device manufacturer would have to have animals killed for their product.

paul

:-) but leather is a high quality material

I got a black nano about a month ago, and just now got Link a case. I’m pleased with the case, but it would have been much better if I had bought the case immediately. So, I had to spend US$35 on Link in addition to the US$30 on the case itself. A friend of mine got one of those sleeves with his video. It’s a nice courtesy of Apple (or perhaps a caution, given their Nano lawsuit), but nothing passes for a real, high-quality case.

Nice case, but I bought a iPod Nano because it is so small and thin. So I don’t want to put it into something that makes it broaden again.

Tim

Well the case doesn’t really have any impact on the size of the iPod — it’s actually really thin and comfortable to use.

Wolfgang

A first step to the cognition that quality goes before quantity…

Chris

But does the case get the job done?

Also bitte!!

How bad is the scratching, really, if you don’t use a cover? Does your screen get totally jacked up in no time? I’m not much of a cover guy, but I don’t want my Nano getting all scratched up, either.

Chris

@Dauragon Wirklich ein sehr intelligenter Beitrag zu dieser Diskussion. Finde deutsche Kommentare zu englischsprachigen Artikeln auch nicht gerade optimal.

Chris

I have one, and the case is really nice. I’m waiting for iSkin.com’s eVo3 though…. looks nice. But, as for the one that comes with it, it does to a good job of protecting the iPod.

I’m so jealous of your iPods. I can’t wait to get one. I love your web site by the way, stunning. Great job.

Lindsay

Well its susceptibility of getting scratched is not that different to older iPods — as far as I know Apple uses the exact same materials for the surface and the display.

I can really recommend the “sleevez” from radtech! e.g. the new sleeve for iPod nano Link Nice material .. very thin and tight.. Display protection and the best thing over all — the touch-wheel is working trough the sleeve! I bought a “sleeve for iPod mini” last year — it´s great!
