Jumsoft Process
From time to time I stumble upon tools, I wish I would have known before. One of those tools is “Process” by Jumsoft. Process provides you with a flexible framework you need to get things done.

If you are like me and use iCal or any other calendar application such as Sunbird or Microsoft Outlook respectively Entourage for managing your tasks, you might be somewhat annoyed of all the limitations and kinks. In that case you should consider taking a look at “Process”.
Basically Process is a tasklist with a bunch of useful enhancements. For example you can create projects, the tasks can be associated with. And if you are working in a smaller team you may even share projects via Bonjour. Everyone on the network can collaborate on the project and even download and upload Source documents. You may even sync your tasks with iCal.

By the way “sources” are documents, hyperlinks etc. that can be associated with specific tasks. Just drag an existing document to the “sources bar” and Process creates a shortcut to the respective document. Voila.

Ever wanted to group or rather nest a bunch of tasks? No problem — with a simple click you may nest tasks in arbitrary depth. Great.

By the way, how do you organize your tasks? Do you use similar applications or have you created your own task management system by means of an Excel Sheet or a even a real application? I’m eagerly awaiting your answers… :)

I was just looking at this app too… looks nice. As for organizing tasks, I’ve just changed my set up so that they are all listed in basecamp.
I’ve created a couple of different fictitious users ( shopping, SomedayMaybe, Gifts) etc to create “contexts” for my lists. Then when I view all of my to-do’s in the dash board, I can see everything that is related to work on one page, and by using the drop down, view separate lists on other pages.
It’s not the perfect solution, but saves me from entering all my basecamp to-do’s somewhere else.

Nifty, I should really start to use organising software. I’m a very dissorganised person.

VERY nice tool. Testing right now, easy to use, but it seems to have problems with the date. It keeps switching between german and american date … strange.

That looks really nice and was actually thinking iCal needs something more like this.

Sounds cool. I think I will give it a whirl, but it would take quite a bit for me to get pulled away from KGTD. ( Link ) The info on the link I provided will give a better writeup than I possibly could, but I will state that since I have been using it, it’s been making organisation a lot better for me.
I have a basecamp and backpack account, and I do use them (especially backpack), but even though I am always connected to the net I kind of like having this file on my computer. I guess there is just something about knowing I can get the file whenever I want without fear of a server being down for maintenance or whatever is important to me. But in the end, much as I get use out of them, I have had a problem making either one of them be my comfortable organisation tool.
Anyway, enough rambling — I’m going to go check out Process.

I’m looking for an application like that… but I still don’t know if I need it so badly that I’ll spend something on it :)

i go for Link — handles more complex situations and has ms project import.
(and they’re austrians, too:) )

I’m not sure what the deal is, but when I tried using it, it was buggy as hell. The main window wouldn’t show up unless I tried to quit the app. Various elements in the window would either be drawn wrong or not at all.
It seems like I’m the only one experiencing these problems, but I’m not sure why. It’s a shame too, because it looks like a really good app I would use often.

Nice user interface but Process seems to lack of Address Book integration. I can drop contacts as sources but Process won’t show the informations inside the app. Instead opening the contacts causes AB to import them. Not really useful cause they’re already there of course.
I use…
for personal notes: iCal + DoBeDo Widget
for larger projects: Merlin (which goes deeper into project management, like iTaskX)
for collab work: Basecamp (OS independent)

Do You know any similar software for M$, except MS Project. Some thing easy to use. OpenSource would be great but not nessesery.
