New Provider

You may have already noticed that the temporary header, stating that I experienced problems with my URL rewriting engine, is gone. Well it's not that my old provider finally managed to fix the problem - no, I've switched to a new one.

So finally I’m a proud owner of a brand new Apache web server with tons of great features, kindly hosted by Tribolis Web Solutions. So if you ever look for a new provider you should consider taking a look at their hosting plans. And if you decide to switch, do not forget to mention that you have been referred by me ;)

There is only one downside: since my previous CMS was written in ASP, it won’t work on the new server. So I really have to think about switching to a real content management system. Yeah I know, I have written about this topic several times before - but this time I really have to take off the gloves. Anyway, the most important thing for you is that the site now finally works as intended, including nice URLs etc. Cheers, Wolfgang

Great decision, now you have got faster and more reliable server. I also think that your switching to PHP CMS will be really fast.

I’m jealous, I need an excuse to get an apache server! Being on a shared box with no access to things like httpd.conf drives me mad!

The “previous sidenotes” link in the right column does not work yet: The requested page “/sidenotes/” does not exist on this server.

Whether or not you end up picking it, make sure Textpattern is on your list of CMS’s to consider. :)

Yeah the front end is done using PHP — but the whole administration was still ASP. Actually I was never really fond of that separation, because several features had to be implemented twice.

May I ask if you rendered the Tribolis logo that you have at the bottom of your site, yourself?

No - I received the logo from tribolis. I just changed color from pure white to blue so that it better fits the rest of the layout.

I am a new visitor to your site and an aspiring designer. I saw some great tutorial on illustrator, was just coming back to see and start learning it, but it has disappeared, wonder, when we can benefit from it? Love the layout, color, graphs, and simplicity of your site. Keep up the good work. And best of luck.
