As I first heard of sidenote I thought that is was just another tool for taking notes. But after I’ve installed the tool its clean interface and its unobtrusive way of accessing the notes convinced me.

Sidenote is a MacOS X application by Pierre Chatel that tries to catch the “Stickies” spirit but in the form of a multi-document drawer. You can use it to take all your daily notes that may consist of pieces of text or even images.

In order to acces your notes you just have to move your cursor either to the left or to the right edge of your screen and the document drawer smoothly slides in. Great. By the way sidenote is freeware and can be downloaded from the official website.

I’m working a dashboard widget that does something similar… but obviously not as robust as this app.

Great news — I will also definitely have a look on creating widgets as soon as my copy of Tiger has arrived. Dashboard will be a great enhancement to Mac OS…

Das werde ich auf jeden Fall machen. Ich hoffe ja, dass das das Päckchen noch vor dem Wochenende ankommt — aber realistisch betrachtet sieht es diesbezüglich eher schlecht aus…

Leider startet das Programm oft nicht automatisch, obwohl es in den Systemeinstellungen bei “Programme automatisch starten” aktiv ist… offensichtlich hat es noch Bugs. Ansonsten ein tolles Tool…

Doch mit der neuen Version 1.6 (danke Herr Bartelme!) scheint wohl dieser Bug behoben zu sein. -----
