The switch
Some of you may already have noticed the changes evolving on this site. “Kommentare” have changed to “comments”, “Artikel” to “articles”. Bartelme Design is going international. The translation is not finished yet, so expect some weird mixture of German and English for the next couple of days.
Background
2004 was the year of changes. I think it’s been about a year ago that I’ve completely switched to a Mac — and so did the focus of this site. Some of you may have noticed ;) And with the switch I did not only recognize a tremendous increase of creativity, but also a significant increase of visitors, many of them suggesting that it would be great if Bartelme Design was available in English.
Some of you may argue that the language of design is international and that it’s not necessarily important to understand most of the text on site, as long as you can enjoy the latest icons or desktops. Well, you’re right. But in some cases you have to read the additional notes, such as the install instructions for the TextMate document type icons. So even this step might be a bit distracting for my German visitors, I hope you understand my attempt to reach more people out there :)
Work in progress
The translation is not finished yet — and probably never will, as it is not planned to translate older contents. Most likely I will leave the whole content untouched, and only new stuff will be available in English. It mainly depends on the amount of time I can invest in translation. But as always I’m interested in your ideas of how to cope with this situation. And by the way, comments are not restricted to English. Feel free to comment entries in your preferred language…
